KEV HARTY (GK) Debut 2003
Along with Rob Scott, Kev turned the keeper's position from one of weakness to strength. Kev played a massive part in the A's success last season and is easily capable of playing in the 1st team, as he proved this season, only Crammond's return has limited his appearances, but this has been the reserves gain, missing ever-present status by one game Kev highly deserved 2nd place in Player of the Year.
ANDY SMITH (DEFENCE) Debut 2004
An excellent fresher addition to the Reserves, Andy made the left back slot his own but by the end of season had begun to master the central defensive role as well earning his the captaincy for the last game of the season. His consistently excellent performances earned him most votes in player of the year a real achievement in his debut season, that and his travelling up to games out of term time!
JAMES 'TART' ALMOND (DEFENCE) Debut 1998
Former 1st team player of year returned after working away for much of 2002-03. An excellent defender, Tart excelled in the man to man marking role in the 3-5-2 preferred by former legendary manager Samm Haillay. Much of the passion for the Green and Black bears the mark of splinter's influence. He had to content himself with a place in the A's last season but well deserved his place in over half the 1st team's games this year.

CHRIS JACKSON (DEFENCE/LB) Debut 2002
One of the most underrated players in the club, Chris quietly and efficiently reached 100 games for the club split between the Reserves and A team this season. Described as the "best dressed man " in the club.
MATT LAWS (DEFENCE) Debut
2003
Ex Uni 2nd team captain Matty proved to be an excellent signing joining
from Wearside league Annfield Plain last year. A powerful but composed defender
Matty has performed well at right back but is equally capable of playing
centre half. Fortunately the injuries that plagued him only became a factor late in the season and have not limited his appearances (17 out 20 league games).
TOM PENN (MIDFIELD) Debut 2003
Another product of the excellent 2003 trials, Tom immediately caught the eye with his extravagant mullet and passing ability! Ideally a central midfield player, Tom has played his part with veteran Pollard and new signing Pearce. Tom has made 89 club appearances (18/20 in league this season) and scored 15 goals already in his short Garnett career.
CHRIS PEARCE (MIDFIELD) Debut 2004
Fresher Chris has been impressive as midfield general for the Reserves this season taking 3rd place in player of the year. He made a real impression in the 13 games he played as anyone reading the match reports will have noted. Travelling up for games outside of term time showed his committment to the Green and Black.
NICO HESLOP (MIDFIELD) Debut 2003
Another talented 2nd year, Nico learned quickly under the tutelage of Scargill and Pollard in the Corinthian league and fully deserved his promotion to the Reserves and 1st team squad. Nico has the ability to play anywhere up front or midfield and a real eye for a goal. His continued development ensures a productive Garnett career that has already reached 75 appearances and 19 goals.
MARTIN POLLARD (CM/CF) Debut 1995
Garnett legend and Vice Chairman, Pol has always been a leader and a winner (Championship winning manager 3 times), this season concentrating on his own game rather than managing teams, Pol has enjoyed a key role in the Reserves. Possessor of one of the club's best footballing brains with an impressive strike rate for a midfielder, Pol's passion and desire are an example to all at the club as he gradually worked his way up from sub for the bottom team to playing in the Tyneside Amateur with the Reserves. An insightful presence both on and off the field in his role as Club Vice Chairman.
GAZ
HOPKINS (UTILITY/FORWARD) Debut 1997
Club legend with over 250 appearances for the club. One of few certainties
in life, is that, if there is a Garnett game, Gaz will be there. An
excellent athlete with great pace and strength, Gaz can play in any
position on the park, with aplomb, and without complaining. Also an
excellent supplier of quality from dead ball situations. Good team man,
always reliable and committed, he performed consistently for both 1st
team and Reserves in any position that he has been asked which is typical
of a great club man who has hardly missed a game over his time with
the club.
ANDY BELL (CF) Debut 2001
Andy's touch and natural pace has caused many defenders to have nightmares. Andy was prolific for Garnett 4th Team last season but wasn't available week in week out. This season he has hardly missed a game (18/20) but found scoring much more of a challenge in the Tyneside amateur league.

DAVID
ALEXANDER (MIDFIELD/FORWARD) Debut 2001
When gifted Ulsterman David joined the club 3 seasons ago he moved quickly
through the ranks to fight for a place in 1st team squad. Possessing a wide range of technical and physical attributes
Dave has the talent to be a top quality player. His distribution has improved
to match his penchant for show-boating. Last season he became a Centurian, joining
that elite group of players who have played 100 games for the Green
and Black.
ADAM BELL (CF) Debut 2001
Adam has gradually grown in strength over his time at the club. A natural athlete who dismayed all the regulars by demolishing the Grand National preseason training record time at the first attempt. Adam has been a prolific scorer since joining the club reached 138 appearances this year and is only the third player after record scorer Danny Sherwood and Paul Lant to break the hundred goal barrier.
DAN CORCORAN (FORWARD) Debut 2001
Diminutive winger Dan worked his way up to 1st team contention after after impressing in fresher trials starting in the As (for whom he once bagged six in game) and then moving to the Reserve teams. Dan has worked hard to establish himself in the 1st team squad, his pace and trickery on the give sides a genuine option on the left. |
