This was a match that was not going to be hailed as the best start to a season. The first half was leaden and and players seemed heavy footed after a long freshers week the ground was hard and uncompromising. Two early goals knocked holes in morale and defence and the team never recovered from this early blow. There were few shots at goal and the midfield were unable to provide strikers with any substance. Cool defence prevented too many goals going past. A more spirited second half and an inspired strike from Jose gave hope but the match ended in a poor 4-1 defeat
