GARNETT WED A TEAM
Wed 19th October 2005 Garnett A 5 (0) vs. (0) 0 Real Ma-dividend

A's hit form again as Real Ma-Dividend were made to suffer at the hands of a green and black backlash after the previous weeks poor and uncharacteristic performance.

From the off and has been the case all season the A's dominated early possession of the ball as the players felt they maybe had a point to prove to one another. Once again looking like the team who had been in good form in the opening two games Garnett passed the ball around with fluidity with the midfield pair of Hill and Pearce pulling the strings with the deep lying Heslop who at every opportunity was dropping deep to get the ball and make things happen.
However it was Ma-Dividend who almost found the early breakthrough as a cross from their left found an outstretched boot of their striker who only managed to hit the post with Harty beaten.

Unrattled the A's continued to go forward with every opportunity and it was not long before Heslop found himself in on goal. Unfortunately Heslop's cool finish was matched by the opposing keeper who made a good stop to tip the ball over his bar to concede a corner.

Garnett continued to press with man of the match Tomei destroying the Real left back time after time with quick feet and powerfully running to get himself behind the back line again and again as Garnett looked to open the scoring.
The fluid movement of pacey Emmet almost paid dividends as he found himself in the box after a sweeping Garnett move only to see his effort graze a post.

After half time the patient A's were rewarded as they came out with the same tenacity and fluidity of the first half. Heslop found himself with the ball on the edge of the box and his effort went in via the far post to give the green and black the goal they deserved.
The second came shortly after when Garnett broke down the left with a move started by the midfield general Pearce as he played in an impressive Jackson who sent the tireless Mullan into space. Mullan sent in a super ball across the floor which Hill got on the end of to register his first goal of the season with a late run into the box.

As the game wore on the A's domination increased and the moment of the match came when Allen who had a fantastic and dominating game at centre back with Smith looked up inside his own half and struck. As the ball sailed over the Real goalie he must have felt sick to see the ball fall under his bar for what has to be the intra-mural goal of the season.
Heslop soon added another when a dropped effort saw him show predatory instincts as he raced in to finish to put the A's four ahead.

In the closing twenty minutes B team player Johnson came on for Hill to add some muscle to a tough midfield and sat well to deny Ma-Dividend any way back.
The filth came when Mullan won a free kick on the edge of the box. Heslop pulled the pass back to an unmarked Mullan who drilled home to seal a much needed and timely win for the green and black.

All in all a great day for the A's who on this sort of form can once again look forward to a very promising season! atb
