2007 Philsophers 0 (0) vs. (7) 14 Garnett Reserves
|
The Reserve Team avoided a banana skin with a more than comfortable victory over Corinthians League opposition in the FA Minor Cup. With the pre-match teamtalk focusing on the need to maintain discipline, team shape and keep the current run of form intact, the Reserves managed to score a goal on average ever six and a half minutes. Harry Tulip and Tom Skilbeck maintained their effective partnership sharing 10 goals between them with six and four respectively. Parkinson, Glenn Kent and McGill also netted and the opposition obliged with an own goal to rack up a 14-0 victory in the second round of the Minor Cup. The Reserve team have developed a great team spirit over the last 7 undefeated weeks which can continue to provide the platform for future successes. Special mention to Shaun McGill and Paul Turner who both had excellent, solid games with McGill in particular providing numerous quality crosses. Thanks also to Matt Laws who, unavailable due to injury, came down to support the team. The quality of the Reserve team fielded today, missing several players due to injury or unavailability, provides evidence of the strength in depth of the squad and club more generally.
