2007 Garnett Academy 3(1) vs. (0) 0 Proctor & Gamble
|
Following a lack luster first half performance the previous week with a make shift team, Bohs turned up with reinforcements for the game against lowly Proctor and Gamble at Bullocksteads. Unfortunately the high winds, which had been present during the week had not died down for the game and so Garnett knew that they would have to battle hard to achieve the required result. P&G had a weakened team with only 11 players, with the obvious absences being ex-Garnett players Cusworth and Holmes, the latter choosing to watch his beloved Spurs in the cup final instead. Rumour has it that shouts of “Shot like a F*****g Sniper” could be heard around Wembley every time Drogba went to ground. Garnett kicked into the wind and uphill first half and were lucky not to go a goal behind when the P&G number 9 had a close range effort brilliantly saved by Wilkinson in the Garnett goal. In fact this was P&G’s only real effort on target in the entire game. The Boh’s created several chances first half mainly due to the clever link up play between Man of the match Envy and Academy top Scorer Adam Bell, who broke the dead lock mid way through the first half with a neat finish. The remainder of the half saw Garnett unable to keep the ball as poor passing and decision making saw the ball given away time and time again, however the tireless work rate ensured that Garnett went in one up at half time. econd half with the wind, Garnett rarely looked troubled and created several chances before an own goal and a second by Adam Bell gave them a deserved 3-0 victory, which on a calmer day could have been more.
