GARNETT RESERVES MATCH REPORT
Saturday 16th February 2002 Garnett Reserves 4 (3) vs. (0) 0 Red Star Benwell

Garnett Reserves fielded one of their strongest sides of the season and began playing neat football from the start. The defensive midfield trio of Holmes, Cusworth and Mercer took the pressure of the Garnett defence and gave the reserves some much needed bite in midfield.

The reserves have been luckless all season until this game, which saw an own goal from Benwell give them the lead. The second came from a 20 yard bobbler from Mercer, followed by a neat finish from Mark Warwick giving the reserves the third after only half an hour.

Three up at half time the Reserves went into the second half facing the pressure of having the chance to win a game for the first time in around five months. The chance was grabbed with both hands as the win was sealed by a second own goal, in what turned out to be an otherwise pretty uneventful second half.

A clean sheet and 3 points were the well deserved rewards. M.O.M - Ben Holmes

Team: Wright, Hughes, Miller, Cusworth (Capt.), Martin, Webb, Holmes, Mercer 1, Warwick 1, Watson, Allison, 2 O.G.
