GARNETT C TEAM REPORT
Saturday 29th January 2005 Sporting Gibon 1 (0) vs. (3) 5 Garnett C

The score line flattered Garnett as they took their unbeaten run to 8 games. Once again the team had many changes to it from the side fielded the previous week, with Luke Lavery and Chris Normington back in the side.

Garnett went out very attacking, however it took until around the 30th minute mark for the breakthrough when a cross whipped from the left from Atkinson was slid in from Lavery. Gibon then came back strongly and would have scored if it wasn't for the heroic defending of Haines and Nunn. Appleby doubled the score against the run of play to put Garnett 2:0 up and just before the half time whistle Tom Penn fired in a nice shot to leave Garnett in a good position at the half way mark.

The second half was still very tight despite the score line, however it was Garnett’s Lavery again who I quote produced a “cheeky chip over a helpless keeper,” which was a truly memorable finish for the young lad.

Gibon managed to pull a goal back with 20 minutes to go after a mix up with the keeper and his defence, but Garnett never looked troubled and Lavery struck again to get his second hat trick of the season. The game finished with Garnett once again cementing their authority at the top of the Intra Mural Division 3.
