GARNETT C TEAM REPORT
Saturday 2nd October 2004 Garnett C 3 (3) vs. (0) 1 Celta Nemo

With five first team players absent from the squad, the line up was very much disrupted from last week's victory. However the bonus of several experienced Garnett players including Al Hindle, Rob Wallace, Tom and Henry Brydon and Chris Nunn proved to be decisive.

The referee for the game failed to make an appearance, therefore "experienced official" Steve Simms stepped up to the role to referee even with a dodgy leg.

After an edgy start and a few early scares around the Garnett goal, Liam Appleby doubled his seasons tally, controlling a tricky high ball from Al Hindle, turning and coolly slotting home.

The game then became very scrappy with poor football from both sides, Garnett however should have increased their lead. It was around the 35 minute mark, Appleby pounced again on a through ball and slid the ball past the static Nemo keeper. A third soon followed when keeper, Rory took a goal kick which sailed over everyone leaving Appleby to beat the last defender and lift the ball over the advancing keeper, wrapping up a superb hatrick.

The second half was again scrappy with glimpses of quality from a good Garnett side. A number of silly mistakes and a mix up at the back allowed Nemo to pull back an early goal. The opposition pushed more and more, but Garnett held out to claim victory and take top spot in the league.
