GARNETT B TEAM REPORT
Saturday 25th September 2004 Garnett B 5 (1) vs.(0) 2 Barnstoneworth

All the B team players were aware that this was going to be a tough game and started well, keeping Barnstoneworth at bay. Half way through the first half Rich Holme came in the box from the left a managed to get a shot away which took a fortuatous deflection into the opposite corner to make it 1-0. A little later Lee Marshall was left with only the keeper to beat after excellent work down the left by Smith and Holme only for his shot to go straight at the Barnstoneworth keeper. Garnett maintained this pressure till half time.

Ten minutes into the first half Jones closed down the keeper well forcing him to fumble it. The ball looked like being cleared by the Barnstoneworth right back only for him to slice it back into their box and Rich holme was on hand to head home. Lee Marshall was then brought down inside the box and Keith Jones duly converted the spot kick. Then the team lost their concentration a Barnstoneworth were back in it with a headed corner and a deflected shot to make it 3-2. Excellent defending by Smith as well as good battling by Holme kept it like this as Barnstoneworth tempers flared. Holme kept his head and a good run into the box was illegaly halted for our second penalty of the day. Jones made sure of our fourth then late on Lee Marshall turned well and fired in to the far bottom corner to wrap up a good start to the season.
