Saturday 2nd November 2002 Garnett B 3 (1)
vs.(0) 0 Rushworth & Diamonds
|
The mighty green and black came into their game with Rushworth and Diamonds on a high after scoring six the week before. Garnett B started brightly with most of the possession both teams were having in and around Rushworth's box. The only missing ingredient in the B's play was a goal, this inability was nearly capitalised on by Rushworth as a breakaway move forced Ed Shaw into a fantastic save low to his right. The game was falling into a routine with extended lengths of Garnett possesion followed by a Rushworth breakaway. The B's did get the goal they needed minutes before half time as a Paul Rankin cross was converted by Dan Ford sliding in at the far post for his first goal since January. The second half started the same as the first half with
Garnett in command and in search of the vital second goal. The Bs finally
doubled their lead and what a way to do it, Phil Church finally
completed one of his trademark forward runs with a goal, surely a contender
for goal of the season. Rushworth were still finding it hard to create
chances of any merit and were punished when Sam Marshall's cross
looped over the keeper and into the net for the third in a workmanlike
performance and deserved win for the Green and Black |
