GARNETT A MATCH REPORT
Monday 26th April 2004 R.V.I. 1 (1) vs.(1) 3 Garnett A

Garnett remain top of league going into Saturday's decider vs. Newcastle City following a tremendous second half display against R.V.I. full of heart and skill from Garnett, whose superior fitness showed.

The first half was an even contest with Garnett taking the lead through Murray after he beat the R.V.I. off-side trap from a Deeble free-kick to finish coolly.

R.V.I. struck level after a good individual run from their #12 who squared the ball for an easy finish for the R.V.I. #4.

The message at half-time was to do the basics better and keep possession more, and this was what happened in the second period. Young went close from a corner and Garnett were taking control of the game and took a deserved lead when Deeble fired low into the bottom corner after a good team move freed him on the left of the area.

R.V.I. then hit the bar and Smith cleared off the line from a corner but Garnett made it three late on when Murray beat the keeper to the ball and Deeble was on hand to put the ball in the empty net.

Garnett need to avoid defeat on Saturday to become champions.
