GARNETT A TEAM REPORT
Saturday 25th October 2003 Diggers United 2 (1) vs.(1) 4 Garnett A

Garnett A kept up their winning form with a fine display against a good Diggers side.
In windy and cold conditions Garnett seemed to be the team who started the game best, with shots from Holmes and Penn which the keeper did well to save. Then on 25 minutes Garnett took the lead through Tellez after great work from the impressive Young and tireless Pollard. Young fed Pollard who beat the keeper to the ball to cross for Tellez to bang the ball home from 6 yards. This goal seemed to wake Diggers up who then came more and more into the game. On 35 minutes Diggers equalised after a spell of pressure, with the number 7 finishing well on the half volley. That is the way it stayed until half time.

At half-time manager Pendlebury brought on Heslop for the trying Allison. Straight away after half time Ganrett took the lead through the on-fire Young. Tellez controlled a long ball superbly and fed Holmes who threaded a lovely ball for Young, who out paced the right back to finish with his weaker left foot. Garnett then made it 3-1 minutes later through Young again, taking his tally to 8 goals in 4 games. Young played a quick one-two with the impressive Heslop and beat the keeper with a low shot from an acute angle.
Diggers hit back 10 minutes later when Pollard brought down their central midfielder for a clear-cut penalty and the Diggers number 9 sent Harty the wrong way from the spot. Garnett then defended excellently and with 15 minutes left made the game 4-2 with Tellez tapping in from close range after the keeper couldn't hold a fierce shot from the impressive Heslop.

Garnett showed great attitude and played the game out, without giving away a single chance, sending them top of the league and in very good form for the ever important next game against the RVI.
