GARNETT A TEAM REPORT
Saturday 18th October 2003 Garnett A 2 (0) vs.(0) 1 Benton Village

Garnett A continued their unbeaten run with a hard fought win over a physically strong Benton village team. Preparations weren't the best with several squad members out through injury and other reasons.
However, debutants Phillips at right back and Poole at centre back were more than capable replacements. The first 15 minutes Garnett were poor and manager Pendlebury described the perfomrance as "F**KIN MINGIN".

Garnett did score through Collins only for the referee to disallow the goal for a previous offence. The remainder of the first half was very scrappy and Benton Village went closest, hitting the post with a deflected cross. So, at half time with the score level Garnett set about the second half with more composure and controlled the ball more in midfield. Then came the game changing moment, keeper Harty saving brillantly from a close range volley to keep the scores level. On 60 minutes Adam Bell replaced Penn, and moments later he reacted fastest to a poor goal kick from the Benton Village keeper to score with his frist touch. Minutes later Collins controlled brillantly from a sliced clearance to round the keeper and make it 2-0. Benton village then threw everything at Garnett, but the back four held firm. However, in the final 5 minutes Benton Village got a goal back with a well placed free-kick. Nevertheless Garnett A held on and remain joint top of the league.
