GARNETT A TEAM REPORT
Saturday 6th March 2004 Garnett A 3 (1) vs.(0) 0 Benton Village

Tremendous professional performance from Garnett to keep the pressure on Newcastle City at the top of the league. Garnett started well and took the lead when Adam Bell finished cooly after good work from Penn. Benton Village then came back into game and missed a golden chance from a corner when the #11 missed from 2 yards. The first half was mainly a midfield battle with few chances. However, after a half time meeting, Garnett came into there own, and Bell made it two with an excellent finish after good link up play with Young. Garnett then kicked on and passed the ball around with more confidence with Holmes and Deeble prominant in all Garnett created. Benton Village still came on strong but Garnett defended well, with the addition of Almond at right back for the injured Smith, adding stability to the defence.

Bell then scored his 3rd or not, as the referee decided, Bell had a 25 yard effort which went through a hole in the net disallowed as the inept referee said it went wide. Not to worry as 5 minutes from the end Bell made it 3 when he beat the keeper from 18 yards. Fantastic 2nd half performance form Garnett, keeps the chase for trophies alive.
