Saturday 29th November 2003 Hexhamshire 1 (1)
vs.(1) 1 Garnett Bohemian

The Reserves blew another opportunity away to high flying Hexamshire, when poor finishing and gale force winds denied them victory. The Reserves had wind advantage in the 1st half and scored an early goal when Sam Collins rifled in after a misplaced back header. The Reserves dominated the early stages and Collins missed a golden opportunity to double the lead but unfortunately as the wind increased their passing deteriorated as the ball was needlessly given away on too many occasions. Midway through the half the ball was needlessly lost on the half way line and with the defence pushing out, the Hexamshire centre forward was allowed a free run on goal to equalize. Minutes later with the Reserves defence appealing for offside in vain, Hexamshire missed another glorious chance as they finished the half stronger. With the wind steadily increasing to a farcical level the odds were against the Reserves in the 2nd half. So farcical that the referee said he would have abandoned the game if the conditions in the 1st half had been the same as they became in the second. However with experienced fullbacks Peter Curtis and new signing Matt Laws leading the way, fresher keeper Rob Scott amazingly did not have a save to make. Christian Ossawy was again a rock in the heart of the defence alongside skipper Alex Martin. In spite of the conditions the Reserves created several good chances in the second half but once again a combination of bad luck and lack of a natural goal scorer proved costly. Despite playing the better football and competing especially well in the second 45 minutes, the Reserves were left frustrated but at least they had the consolation of earning a valuable point in their relegation fight.
