In hindsight this match should not have been played
as the Benson Park cut up badly and passing football was very difficult
but three vital points and another clean sheet were achieved to keep
the 1sts in the promotion hunt.
Even allowing for the pitch this was a below par performance as the
1sts never played at the tempo that they are capable. It took them 44
minutes to break the deadlock and only four goals were scored against
a tiring and demoralised BT side in the second half. Record scorer Danny
Sherwood once again he can score goals for fun against average opposition
with a close ranger hatrick, skipper Shaun Cavanagh nodded in
a Neil Hindley corner and man of the match John Hall revelling
in his preferred centre forward role banged in the fifth. Dave Cave
impressed wide right.
