November 2001 Garnett Old Boys 3 (0)
vs. (0) 1 AB 80 Old Boys
|
Match Report After three consecutive 1-1 draws, the Old Boys clinched their first ever victory with a well deserved 3-1 victory over AB80 at Benson Park. In windy conditions Garnett defended well against the elements in the 1st half with the alert reactions of keeper Sammy Haillay and assured defending of Alex Buck taking the eye. Garnett turned round with the game goalless, confident that they could use the wind to their advantage. This proved to be the case and despite AB80 scoring a breakaway goal to take the lead, Garnett dominated possession and opportunities. Inevitably Rick Dent scored the first turning to smash a half volley into the top corner from the edge of the box, the third consecutive Reunion game in which he has scored and all with the left foot the Green and Black! ReUnion debutant Danny Sherwood slotted the winner form close range before Paul Hunt nodded in the clincher. Man of the Match was Keith Farthing whose new found ability to pass the pass to players on his own side was duly rewarded.
