2006 Diggers Utd 1(0) vs. (0) 1 Garnett A
|
Encouraged by their opening victory a confident A team squad arrived in Crammy for the duel with Diggers, who have become somewhat of a bogey team of ours in recent years. With Lynch coming in to strenghten the central midfield area and Elliott looking to support the front two the signs were positive. However the A's found it difficult to produce much in the way of clear cut chances and when in level at the break. The second half began in much the same vain, a lack of link up play between those on the flanks and the front two continuing to frustrate, and it was perhaps not surprising when Diggers, on a rare foray forward, seized upon a lack of concentration in the A's midfield to go one up. Despite this heads did not go down and almost immediately the A's were back on level terms, Cowles latching onto a throughball from Deeble to calmly lob the keeper, but again the A's faultered and the rest of the match was played out with few further threats on goal. Overall the point was a fair result but the A's left knowing that there will be much greater tests ahead if they are to challenge for the title On a positive side the defensive four looked pretty comfortable throughout and will hope to shut out most teams in this league whilst also looking to get forward at every opportunity.
