2006 Newcastle City A 0 (0) vs. (4) 7 Garnett A
|
Following on from a comfortable seven nil win the As expected a tough challenge from a well organised Newcastle City outfit. Manager Deeble had a selection dilemma and had to leave three of last weeks starters on the bench. The players who were given a start responded in the perfect way and after two minutes Lynch was very unlucky to have a perfectly good goal ruled out. The As continued to press and Holme, playing on the left wing, swept in a chance from short range. A second came from a corner which fell to Commane who scored his first of the season. The midfield worked the ball from wing to wing and before half time Holme and Envy, with his first goal for the As, had made it four nil. The second half saw the As press home their advantage as first Cowles, then Envy, then Cowles again all scored. Despite the fairly heavy conditions the As managed to work the ball well with Penn going one way then the other and the back four looking very safe. The As have now scored fourteen without reply. Lynch, who bossed the midfield with ease, took the man of the match award. Next up are Washington CC who will likely pose a tougher test for Deeble’s entertaining A team. At the moment he must be pleased with the way in which his plan is coming together.
