GARNETT A TEAM REPORT
Saturday 14th October 2006 Garnett B 0(0) vs. (2)7 Garnett A

This eagerly awaited fixture was scheduled for an early kick off to accommodate the extra supports, provided from the first and reserve teams. Both squads were at virtual full strength although the promotion of Mark Envy had left the B team with reduced forward options.

The game started with the As pressing straight away. Following the disappointment of the draw with Diggers manager Deeble shock things up in an attempt to give the side more width. This approach paid early dividends as Holme broke down the right flank and pulled the ball back for Gwyilm who hammered the ball home from 20 yards out. The As continued to press and Cowles was rewarded shortly after curling a shot past the helpless Shaw.

The Bs tried to create their own chances and Sage in particular looked lively up front. However, Robins and Commane rarely looked in difficulty. The best chance came when Ford, given time in midfield struck a good shot just wide. In the second half both managers made changes, but it was the As who continued to show their superiority. Deeble broke well down the left and played the ball across the face of goal only for Church, in an attempt to clear, to slice the ball past Shaw. Cowles then added a fourth following a cross from the right. As the B team began to tire the newly introduced Barrett impressed by taking two well made chances and narrowly missing a third. Cowles also knocked in his hatrick having missed a few guilt edged chances.

The final result, seven goals to nil, did not do the B team justice, who battled but failed to keep possession enough. Jamie ‘Scott’ Mills played excellently for the Bs but could not hold the As at bay by himself. Cowles scooped the man of the match award for the As for his well deserved hatrick.
