GARNETT A MATCH REPORT
Wednesday 31st March 2004 Garnett A 3 (1) vs.(0) 1 Chemfica A

Justice was done at Benson Park as Garnett beat Chemfica A at the second time of asking, after the original game was abandoned. Garnett started better, with Young and Bell wasting chances to score. Garnett also seemed the team who kept possession more and as a result were in control. Garnett got the goal they deserved through Bell, one of his scrappiest goals for Garnett. After a free kick which was delivered perfectly from the impressive Hopkins, the ball landed at Cavanagh's feet but as he went to shoot the ball spun to Bell who sliced the ball and some how it crept in. Chemfica responded by push more forward with Garnett surrendering possession too easily, however keeper Hepburn was rarely troubled.

In the second half Chemfica continued to press forward, despite this Garnett got their second goal, the best one of the night. After a tremendous through ball by Bell, Young outpaced and out-muscled the defender to finish coolly through the legs of the keeper. The game got heated with Pendlebury and the Chemifca #8 getting booked, after Pendlebury reacted to an incident. Chemfica then came back into the game, scoring past the hepburn after a good move.

Pendlbury made changes with Hindley replacing the cramping Hopkins, and Sherwood replacing Bell. With the game at 2-1 Chemfica were in control but Garnett held firm with good defensive performances from Robinson and Cavanagh. Miller then replaced Pendlebury and in doing so made Garnett history becoming the first player to play 250 games for the Green and Black. Garnett wrapped the game up through Sherwood after he rounded the keeper 12 times to finish in the bottom corner.
Tremendous result for Garnett.
