GARNETT ACADEMY TEAM REPORT
Saturday 17th November 2007 Garnett Academy 4(1) vs. (1) 2 JCB Eindhoven

Garnett Academy came into the game having had no fixtures in the previous two weeks due to various reasons, and yet again had several new faces in the starting eleven.

After an entertaining warm up taken by Bremner (involving some very “Gay” skipping, which some people seemed to enjoy to much!) it was decided that Garnett would play against the strong Bullocksteads wind and up hill in the first half.

As expected with the elements in their favour JCB started the brighter with Crerar having to tip a shot destined for his bottom corner round the post in the first ten minutes.

Slightly against the run of play, the Bohs took the lead through Bremner who was fed by Adam Bell and got in front of the keeper to nip it past him before finishing cooly.

The rest of the first half saw Garnett with their backs against the ball defending pressure from JCB, whose left winger looked very dangerous on the break. Disaster struck five minutes before half time when Garnett conceded a poor goal, the ball was given away on the right and was whipped into the back post, where JCB’s tall midfield player got there ahead of Mahan to head the ball home.

After a welcome half time break, Garnett came out more confident in the second half and although we had a few scares when Crerar had to rush out to smother through balls we never looked in much danger. 10 minutes into the second half, Inman won the ball on the half way line, held off two challenges before slipping through Otun, who took it around the keeper to slide the ball home.

The third goal came shortly after from a Cullen long throw, which was headed into his own net by the JCB defender under pressure from Robins.

JCB got back into the game thanks to some poor tracking which resulted in the talented left winger breaking clear and lifting the ball over the on rushing Crerar to make it 3-2.

Heads had started to drop in the Garnett ranks and we kept giving the ball away stupidly in midfield. However the killer goal came when a corner was won. Andy Bell sent in a high cross, which started on the edge of the box and the wind took it into the back post where Adam Bell sent a superb header back across the goal to Robins to head home from two yards out.

Another good win for the Green and Black who travel to lowly Newcastle City next week still hoping to get their first clean sheet of the season.
