GARNETT C TEAM REPORT
Sat 27th September 2003 Garnett C 8 (6) vs. (0) 2 Real Ale Madrid

This time last year the Garnett 5th Team were nursing a 10-0 hangover, a change of management has led to a miraculous change of fortune. Whilst being unable to rid themselves entirely of the old guard, Spence is still in nets, the Cs won the first game 8-2!

The victory was undoubtedly a team effort but it was Keegan's (AKA Ben Steele) perseverance that forced the floodgates wide open. A lofted corner to the far post gave joint Man of the Match Dawnay the chance to burst through the defence putting Garnett C 1-0 up. Keegan surged forward again and fired in a low shot that the keeper gifted to Etan as the first of his three goals trickled over the line. A sumptuous passing movement orchestrated by Dawnay and of course Keegan allowed new recruit Chris Kelly to then lob the keeper from at least 20 yards. Hart and joint Man of the Match Murray decided to follow suit and soon after both reeled away with hand in air celebrating ferocious strikes. Etan completed the first half of scoring with another effortless finish. Even the defence, whom have not been mentioned thus far, left the pitch with a swagger at half time.

The manager's hand was forced at the interval to replace a blistered Kelly with an energetic lad known only as Dave. The substitution coincided with us drawing the second half 2-2 but who am I to point the finger? Two goals from Real Ale were not enough to rattle the Cs, Etan and Dawnay quickly dispelled any sign of a comeback.

Spence was magnificent while Wan, Nunn, Wooldridge and Allison were nothing short of impenetrable (except on two occasions anyway). A superb team performance has left the team in high spirits and who knows what will happen if Keegan can actually start scoring.

Team: S.Spence, C.Wan, D.Allison, G.Dawnay 2 (=MoM), C.Nunn, C.Woolridge, C.Kelly 1 (Dave), P.Murray 1 (=MoM), W.Etan 3, B.Steele, R.Hart 1
