An entertaining game, played in a good spirit which
neither team really deserved to lose. Garnett had more skill but Wednesday
were physically stronger and better organized at the back.
I was impressed with the lively front two of Steve Moore, who
scored and was my man of the match, and Ben Steele. Managers Stu Spence
and ID Ovenden had the best games I have seen from them, with Spence
making one brilliant tip over and Ovenden hammering home a penalty.
I thought at times Garnett passed the ball around well but all too often
the ball was lost through over elaboration and a failure to look up
and play the simple pass. Defensively, all three goals were conceded
due to a lack of communication.
But overall I saw plenty to build on for the remainder of the season.
Team: S.Spence, G.Swarbrick, S.Howard (D.Anderson), C.Ossawy, C.Nunn,
M.Ovenden 1, B.Roberts, B. McMillan (sub T.Oban), B.Steele (Z.Mayessi),
J.Hurry 1, S.Moore 1 MOM
Thanks to Paddy for his support and the above match report.
