GARNETT B TEAM REPORT
Saturday 4th October 2003 Garnett B 2 (1) vs.(2) 2 Rushworth & Diamonds

This was a rather lack lustre performance by a team aiming to be in the top two of the table. Starting with a 5-3-2 formation the Bs failed to find any rhythm in the first half with their wingbacks isolated and finding very little space in the middle. A mistake by Ed “Titus Bramble” Shaw allowed Rushworth’s striker in for the first goal, before Keith Jones equalised.

But, just like last week, the Bs failed to keep organised and a series of errors forced debutant keeper Scott wide, a lobbed cross to the far post found a Rushworth forward unmarked and with an open goal. The only positive from the half was that a Garnett B keeper was seen actually coming out to CLAIM the ball at corners and crosses as a matter of routine!

Swift reorganisation just before the break saw the Bs adopt a 4-4-2 formation that quickly found their feet and was visibly more in control. Early changes in the second half saw an immediate effect as Rich Holme, on for Shaw, went through on goal only to be hacked down. The referee, true to his form for the whole match, awarded nothing.

This only encouraged Holme as, soon after, he dispossessed a fellow player, rounded the keeper and slotted an equaliser home. This inspired the Bs to more attacking form but despite Holme going agonisingly close late on they were unable to break down a determined Rushworth side.

Team: R.Scott (MoM), P.Church , C.Jackson, E.Shaw (R.Holme 1), A.Powers, A.Robins, D.Rutherford, D.Ford, K.Jones 1, M.Deeble, J.Poole
