GARNETT A TEAM REPORT
Saturday 11th October 2003 Red Star Benwell 0 (0) vs.(2) 2 Garnett A

Fantastic performance from the A's this week, especially in the first period, where Garnett dominated possession, mainly thanks to the experienced midfield of Pollard and Holmes. Garnett looked dangerous early doors with Young, Penn, and Collins all going close. In fact, Garnett were so dominant in the first period that Red Star were limited to one shot on target. It was an easy half for Fresher Harty in the sticks for the Green and Black.

Garnett took a deserved lead when Tom Penn crossed a beautiful Beckham-esque cross, which Young volleyed into the net. Garnett then kicked on and 5 minutes later Young beat the offside trap to finish coolly from a superb through ball from the excellent Holmes. There it was 2-0 at half time and manger Pendlebury was absolutely delighted.

In the second half, there wasn't much action. However, Red Star came on strong in the last 20 minutes without creating a chance due to a fantastic defensive performance from Man of the Match Janes. Much deserved victory for the green and black and manager Pendlebury was very happy with the first clean sheet of the season.
