GARNETT A TEAM REPORT
Saturday 7th February 2004 Garnett A 4 (4) vs.(0) 0 Red Star Benwell

Very good result for Garnett in extremly windy conditions. Garnett started game well and created chances for Sherwood and Young without success. However, after 20 minutes Penn broke down the right and crossed, only for a Benwell defender to handle in the area. Penalty was awarded and Pollard cooly despatched the penalty in the bottom left hand corner. Garnett then pushed on, and when Sherwood was tripped in the area another penalty was given and Pollard again slotted the penalty home to give Garnett a deserved 2-0 lead. 10 minutes later after good work from Deeble and Young, Pollard completed his hat-trick with a low shot form the edge of the area. Garnett pressed on hoping to move further ahead and just before half time Young was rewarded for a his hard work by scoring his 22nd goal of the season, after the Benwell keeper had lost possesion in his own area.

After half time Benwell came on strong and used the wind well but there were impressive perfomances from Almond and Phillips and especially keeper Harty who kept another clean sheet with a couple of class saves.

Garnett should have made it 5 after a good move put Andy Bell through but his shot was well saved by the Benwell keeper, this result leaves Garnett 3 points off top spot with 2 games in hand. Pollard picked up Man of the Match with a truely committed performance from the Garnett Legend.
