GARNETT RESERVES MATCH REPORT
Saturday 8th February 2003 Garnett Reserves 3 (1) vs. (0) 0 R.V.I.

I can't believe nobody has written up this resounding victory over R.V.I. come on lads there's TOO FEW DOING TOO MUCH, pull your finger out!- Roger:

What a refreshing result. R.V.I.'s trademark offside "trap" was the source of their own undoing. Once too often they relied on the flagging of their man would be unchallanged by the man in the middle.

As is becoming the usual, the Reserves created chances at one end and stoutly protected their goal at the other. There were less fireworks than in the previous meeting of these two teams, instead infighting spread as the stuffing was knocked out of them. A hat-trick of goals from Dawson were enough to leave the Reserves with their 6th victory in 7. Man of the match, Wonders broke the back of R.V.I.'s midfield by half time, ably assisted by Holmes once again. Mallie terrorised the opposition down the left flank in both halves pushed himself into contention for a chance in the 1st team.

For the last 20 minutes Chris "the machine" Watson came on for Robinson (who'd once again given his all) and could have made it 4-0 with a powerful run through the defence, lifting over the keeper but also just the bar. Good to see last season's number 9 still poses a goal threat!

It really wasn't "Far from f***ing over" after all.

Team: F.Hepburn, P.Miller, R.Turner, M.Campbell-Wonders MoM, A.Martin , C.Ossavy, L.Walker, B.Holmes (G.Hopkins), D.Robinson (C.Watson), C.Dawson 3 (M.Pollard), B.Mallie -Not sure about who came on for who, Roger
