GARNETT FRIENDLY MATCH REPORT
Sat 31st January 2004 Gosforth Boh Garnett 1 (0) Garnett Boh Reserves 2 (0)

A thoroughly deserved win for the Reserves who were the better footballing team throughout against a 1st team high on work rate but low on skill.

John Hurry chested down Tim Burke-Murphy's excellent early cross and hammered home to give the Reserves the lead in the first minute of the second half. Hurry's superb through ball sent Paul Menton bursting through midfield to drill past fresher Kevin Harty to clinch the victory. An injury time deflection off the unfortunate Rory Monaghan was the 1sts sole consolation. Harty created an excellent impression on his 1st team debut keeping his side in the game with some superb saves, confirming that with himself, fellow fresher Rob Scott and Fraser Hepburn that the club has three keepers good enough to play for the 1st team in the Alliance.

The 1st's will point to the abscence of ball players Thompson, Hindley, Cave and Mullan, the late cry off of Buckley which left them having to play Enigma wide left and the injury to Hall. But the Reserves were well worth their win with excellent performances throughout the team.
