GOSFORTH BOHEMIAN GARNETT REPORT
Sat 15th November 2003 Alnmouth 5 (4) Gosforth Bohemians Garnett 2 (1)
The 1st team’s proud unbeaten 13 match unbeaten run came to an emphatic end when Alnmouth knocked them out of the Amateur Cup by an emphatic 5-2 scoreline. The game was closer than the score suggests but Alnmouth were well deserved winners.

The Green and Black were second best in every department, losing the key individual battles and generally being sloppy with their passing. These factors combined with a motivated Alnmouth side and a top quality centre forward led to defeat. Their talented number 9 scored four in the first half ruthlessly exploiting three individual mistakes and scoring one wonder goal. Dave Mercer’s cross was deflected in to pull it back to 3-1 and record scorer Danny Sherwood ended his goal scoring drought with last minute consolation.

On the positive side, this defeat should end any complacency that was creeping into the side and act as prime motivation for next week’s key league clash in Berwick versus Highfields. Despite the comprehensive nature of this loss and several below par individual performances, the heads stayed throughout.
