GARNETT 1ST TEAM REPORT
Saturday 9th March 2002 New York North Tyne Supp. 0 (0) vs. (3) 3 Garnett 1st
Match Report
Garnett enjoyed a day out at the coast with a fine 3-0 win over a determined New York side, to preserve their 2 point lead at the top of the Tyneside Amateur League.

The Green and Black produced their second impressive away performance in succession; with the passing and movement as good as it has been all season. Garnett dominated possession the first half but a dogged home side restricted them to few clear chances but by half time it was clear that the home team were already tiring. Garnett continued to pile on the pressure in the second half but poor finishing, including an amazing diving header miss by right back Lee Elliott kept the game goalless until eventually Norseman Kym Vamrak broke the deadlock coolly finishing off after being set up by youngster David Alexander.

Vamrak went on to complete his fourth hat trick of the season with his 26th and 27th goals, both involving skills of the highest quality after good passing moves down the right where Man of the Match Andy Logan was in fine form. Tim Burke-Murphy pushed Logan hard for the honour with a non stop performance while Ben Holmes could be pleased with his cultured performance in the midfield holding role on his return to the starting line up.

Much credit must also go to the defence, who not only prevented keeper Craig Gracie having a save to make, but also started most of the attacks with composed passing out of the back. Overall this was another highly encouraging performance and with ten games to go the Green and Black must be confident of adding the Tyneside Amateur League to their list of honours.

Team; Gracie, Elliott (Captain), Curtis, Carnley, Gabrielsen, Holmes, Logan, Burke-Murphy,
