Wed 16th November 2005 Garnett A 2 (1) vs. (1) 2 Athletico Jizzmen
|
Garnett were up against an old foe this week when they took on the Jizzmen. Unfortunately a game of this standing had to be played on the infamous under 7's sized patch at Redhall which the Garnett boys knew from the off was to their disadvantage. The game started ok for the green and black. With no room in which to operate the A's tried to use their plan B which was to get the ball upto their talismatic target man Allen who revelled in his ariel duel with the Jizzmen centre backs. With the play congested one goal was never going to be enough in this game and it was Jizzmen who struck next when their talented but whiney right winger took a first time shot as the ball arrived to him on the top right edge of the box. Harty was beaten as the bounce evaded his outstretched right hand and his frustration was obvious. As halftime approached it was clear the A's needed the break to regroup and try and work out how best to adapt to the lack of space. It was Jizzmen however who got the breakthrough when a hopefull long punt found the big Jizzmen striker who controlled well and slotted home. This fired the A's into life and Pearce hit the woodwork again when a long throw from Mullan saw Pearce rise only to see his header somehow hit the inside of the post and stay out. With Luck just not going the A's way Harty and Mullan rang the changes and brought on rapid striker Emmet for Tomei and talented fresher Polzin replaced Jackson. Garnett could have stole it in the end when another Heslop freekick was tipped over by the impressive Jizzmen keeper. All in all Jizzmen can thank the woodwork for the result today but it is more dropped points for the green and black and while still in contention will have to work hard to overhaul pace setters Z-Lions. atb Author: Harty Team: K Harty, J.Mills, C.Jackson (G.Poltzin), C.Pearce, M.Brown, A.Smith, D.Mullen, M.Hill 1, C.Allen 1 (MoM), N.Heslop, H.Tomei (S.Emmet) NB: The views expressed here are those
