GARNETT WED A TEAM
Wed 1st March 2006 Garnett A 3 (1) vs. (0) 0 Athletico Jizzman

Garnett A passed a tricky test against title rivals Jizzmen today with flying colours with their best performance since christmas.

The A's looked determined from the off from goalkeeper to centre forward as every tackle and header was won against a good Jizzmen side. With the A's winning the right to play the breakthrough came when Heslop was set free by the midfield maestro Matt Hill. As is so often the case with the mercurial Heslop he finished Le Tissier like when he decided to chip the keeper from the edge of the box for a truly stunning goal. Heslop was unfortunate not to double his tally when he robbed a Jizzmen defender. As he advanced through he saw his effort well saved by the Jizzmen goalkeeper. With the midfield quartet not giving an inch to the Jizzmen midfield and the back four so accomplished at the back it was no surprise that after the break Garnett doubled their advantage through the tireless Ben Thorp.

Soon after dog of war Pearce showed his new found scoring touch to register his second goal in as many weeks with a cool finish seven or so yards out. From then on the game was won as the A's saw the game out with man of the match Allen turning in a tremendous defensive display as he has done so often this season. Coupled with the calm reassurance of Smith along side him and great defensive displays from Jackson and Mills at full backs it was no wonder Jizzmen failed to create a real chance over the 90 minutes.

An awesome display at a crucial time had the management team of Harty and Mullan purring and thinking maybe just maybe.
