GARNETT ACADEMY TEAM REPORT
Saturday 13th October 2007 Chemfica A 1(1) vs. (1) 2 Garnett Academy

The Academy team fielded a strong side against an unbeaten Chemfica team in this clash at Benfield.

The Garnett boys started well passing the ball around the pitch with great confidence. Bell and Cowells were causing the Chemfica side trouble and midfield the combination of McGill and Inman was proving too strong for the opposition central pairing.

However, against the run of play a high through ball was misjudged by the Chemfica forward and as Robins challenged for the header he fell to the floor. The referee, seeing something that no one else did, awarded a spot kick. The Chemfica taker struck the ball to Shaw's right but he guessed right and pulled off a superb save.

Garnett then pushed on and a free kick won by Bell was delivered by McGill. Cowells rose well and headed home hs third in two games.

As the half progressed Chemfica offered little but a long punt, to an offside looking striker was duly converted to leave it 1-1 at half time.

After the interval the Academy side seemed to tire but still looked dangerous on the break. Chances were squandered at both ends before, with 3 minutes remaining substitute Craig Holmes was bundled over. Another perfectly weighted ball from McGill was glanced home by Bell to make it 2-1.

After last weeks disappointment versus Rutherford Robins' young charges have bounced right back.
